ALSC Melbourne Meet - January 14th 2002

Our first big meet of the year was held on Sunday, January 14th 2002. The day was sponsored by Craig and Robyn Dean from Sports and Luxury Cars in Ferntree Gully.

The day started as the cars rolled in from about 9.30 a.m. It wasn't long before we had one side of the street completely full of Soarers and had to start parking those that came a little later on the other side of the street.

Pride of place in Craig's was taken by Aaron Elliot after winning the dyno day maximum horsepower challenge the day before.

The crowd gathered and filled the street before Craig spoke to the group about all things Soarer and regaled us with anecdotes from his days of racing a Twin Turbo Soarer in Targa Tasmania and the GT Production series across Australia.

Whilst Craig was talking, his wife Robyn and members of his staff were cooking up a storm on the BBQ and laying out the salads and drinks.

The crowd descended like a flock of locusts and made short work of the offerings before taking up position for the big event of the day, the inaugural ALSC Car Trial.

Off they went into the wild blue yonder, to return some hours later to the Croydon Hotel on Maroondah Hwy. There the festivities continued whilst avid discussions evolved relating to the questions and answers given for the Car Trial.

All in all a fantastic day with a record attendance again. Sydney members of the club held their meeting in conjunction with the Vic meet and all together we had over 100 cars in attendance.

Roll on March for the next big event.
